KeymasterSo we have looked around at new forums and it turning out to be very difficult. I guess it just hasn’t been able to compete with the technology of FB or Twitter.
So that means it stays here, and I have to admit it is not an easy medium. I do have another option available.
Way back when before twitter, I started a closed Outlander Group on Facebook. It is still there with a few people happily chatting away. I haven’t been there in months. But I would be willing if that was something everyone was interested in. It is faster and easier to post pics videos, and of course log in! LOL
And of course this is still here. What do you think? Is anyone interested in joining the FB group?

ParticipantI would use FB posts. I haven’t ever commented before as this is tricky to use. Whatever you do, you have another big admirer of your work. Enjoy your writing (and rants) and, of course, dog pix. Thanks for all you do: work of great passion and authenticity.

ParticipantAbsolutely I would be interested! I’ve used a few closed groups on Facebook before. They’re easier to navigate, at least, than the forum tends to be.
Whatever makes your life easier – you have enough to deal with day to day.
Hope your trip back to the pup and cooler Scotland was good.

ParticipantWould definitely participate in a closed FB group. Although I eventually find what I’m looking for on this site it isn’t easy! Just don’t want to see you take on more with your busy schedule. I remember the 10-12 hour days as wardrobe supervisor in theatre and the endless work to keep a show going. Best and worst times of my life.

ParticipantYes as long as it is closed. Only because I don’t need my family in on my whole OL obsession and chat or worse commenting on my madness. Haha
But yes I think that would be great as love forum but it is a bit hard to manage especially on mobile devices.

ParticipantI tried all the FB searches no Group or Page etc… Just photos from the Costume Event at The Grove earlier this year. If it’s a secret group then maybe we should have a direct link to register. Can anyone else here find it to register?

ParticipantI am OK with a Facebook Group. There are so many Outlander related site there already. I usually send a fair amount of time there. FB might be easier to actually have a conversation. I guess the members of this group could try it and see how it works.

ParticipantAre there other admins on that page who could, temporarily, change it from Secret to Closed and monitor/approve the requests to join?
And, if there’s a active community there already, how are they going to feel if they’re suddenly inundated with hundreds more members? I’d hate to step on their toes and create hard feelings from the beginning since that’s really the last thing we’re about.

KeymasterI am the admin.
My group, my rules. I have told them that there will be new members, all good. You know most of them anyway.
I don’t think it is hundreds, I think it will be people who want to be spoiler free. Requests to join show up, even if it is a secret group. No requests so far… -

I had joined it long ago, when it was first up but left because I had heard you had limited the number of people and you were still hopeful to have knitters and such. I do find FB groups to be the easiest to manipulate, locate threads, etc. You can limit, lock, hide etc.
I am more than willing to move back there… Just invite me back! ( Find me Trish Casey-Green)Heading out of the house for the moment…

ParticipantThink this will be my final post as I don’t want to go down the facebook route. But this forum’s been great – letting people discuss Outlander without having to dodge all those really disturbing, oddly personal comments about the actors, for example.
Spoilers on this website never bothered me – still had little idea in advance where the story was going to go.
Thank you for not making 18th century Scotland look anything at all like the White Heather Club!!!!!!!!!!!
Good luck for the future, Cassie

ParticipantSorry, that was meant to be my last posting but don’t know if I ever mentionned this costume.
It’s maybe a strange one to talk about, given the beauty and intricacy of some of the others and I almost didn’t see it as a costume at the time, just clothes, because for me it’s the one that is so perfect. It’s the scene where Frank & Claire are visiting Culloden.
Frank is wearing a raincoat and hat. This British Pathe news clip of 1951 shows a man being interviewed wearing exactly the same, in exactly the same way, from about 38 seconds in. And his name – Frank!
Must now exert great willpower not to add another post…

I am new to your blog, but a HUGE Outlander fan. You have done a wonderful job with the costumes. If I have questions about the Wedding Dress. In particular, about the undergarments, where would be the appropriate place to ask the questions.

ParticipantDear Terry,
Thank you so much for Outlander – I can’t begin to tell you how much I have enjoyed it! We’ve just subscribed here to HBO Netherlands purely for Outlander – never done that before!
I know ”up to your eyes” wouldn’t even begin to describe how busy you are, but – whenwver it might be possible – if the FB closed group is still going I would really love to join it. I can’t seem to get to it via the link at all at all.
My email is cato9tales at gmx.com
In the mean time I wonder if you’ll enjoy this wee clip of behind the scenes of an historic fashion exhibition at the Amsterdam Rijksmuseum as much as I did? It certainly explained to me the frisson I felt as I saw how short the red dress was coming up those stairs at ”Versailles”!!! You didn’t just do that for those shoes, did you?!!
All the very best, and more power to your elbow – amazing amazing amazing!
