Costume makes the character

watching one of my favorite shows last night – Gotham ( I really don’t care about Batman except the cult camp version of the 60s, you kinda had to be there) – and noticed how the costumes really depict the era and comic book style of the show. the women’s clothes mimic the 30s, and some men’s clothes, like the cops are of that era and help sell the style. it’s like watching a comic book of the time come alive.

other favorite costume show is Once Upon a Time. both everlasting forest and storybrook keep the characters in ‘proper’ costume for the character and time frame. especially like the costumes when they are the fairy tale characters – incredibly rich and fancy yet not quite Disney.
