So, looking that the photos of Claire’s Gathering dress on the mannequin brought a question to mind. (Love the embroidered fabric, but what a provenance story!)
So, how many individual pieces make up that dress? Or is it all-in-one? I’ve been assuming the stomacher is separate, but is the underskirt? Overskirt? Bodice/jacket? From what I can see in the photos, it looks like the plaid is all one piece, but it’s hard to tell if it’s attached to the embroidered underskirt and stomacher or not. Clearly the sleeves aren’t separate on this particular dress.
Just to be clear, I don’t really care what would/would not be “historically accurate” for this dress for this occasion. Only asking about this construction of this costume. 🙂
