Thanks! I did not go to school even though I would LOVE to! I started costuming 2 years ago in December, I just kind of taught myself through trial and MANY errors! 😉 I had never made a thing and I started with one commercial brand pattern and then realized they were pretty bad and have since went on to better brands such as JP Ryan and Truly Victorian but this dress was so unique that I wanted to make my own. I just used some muslin and fiddled with it until I had it as close as I could get to the design and made the dress. I did forget that my dress form is larger than me though, so I ended up having to take it in at the sides which was a bummer because it was very nice and neat inside but not so much after! But… it’s done and it was worth the many hours of time and, I’m a little embarrassed to say, tears! It was more complicated than anything I had made before so I ran across many challenges and may have cussed at it from time to time but it is now a dress! So I can’t complain! 🙂
