I thought “Wentworth Prison” was, quite honestly, masterful. It walked that very fine tightrope between compelling and too much brilliantly. Nothing felt over-the-top to me.

One thing in particular I wanted to point out was the moment when BJR rides up on his horse to save Jamie from the noose just in the nick of time. At first, this bothered me as an overused trope. But in conversation with others on Twitter, someone pointed out that you can actually see it as a turned-on-its-head subversion of the trope. And I really liked that. There’s a lot about 115 (and presumably 116) that’s about turning tables on the standard hero/woman-in-distress story. It’s clearly in the original books and I love that it’s carried through so strongly to the show.
