That is one of the things that most defined the books for me, and why I loved them. She goes back, but does not sit around pining for her lost love. Not that she wouldn’t have been justified, considering. But she didn’t. She got up and became a surgeon, in the 60’s, an almost impossible task in that period.
That really said everything about what kind of woman she was. I knew I was right in liking her so much, and was willing to see where she was going.
