Great question Maggie, and comments MrsParker. For me personally, a strong female lead is not a two dimensional character – she can be tough and kick ass, but she’s also more than just a “tough” woman. Or, she can not be a kick ass “superhero” and not take on masculine traits, and yet she’s not just a sensitive feminine character. I think the problem that I usually have with the portrayal of female characters on some tv shows or movies is that women are usually portrayed as two dimensional and often placed into water-tight compartments.
