Interesting question. I was in my late 20s when I was introduced to Outlander – married a few years, but before we had kids. I’m now 43 with three kids. I have to admit, that while I definitely enjoyed reading Outlander (and later books) the first time, I never felt the need to pick them up again to re-read. When the show was announced in mid-2013, I picked them up again and they resonated with me at a whole new, deeper level and now I’ve read them twice in the last year because I can’t stop thinking about them. I completely chalk that up to the experiences I had in the intervening 15ish years – as a woman, as a mother, and as a spouse.
